Description

With atomic number 71,Lutetium (Lu) is the heaviest rare earth element. Due to the reserve is quite low, Lu is one of the most expensive rare earth element. Thus applications for lutetium is somehow limited. Some lutetium oxide, such as Lutetium aluminum garnet (Al5Lu3O12) is applied in optical industries and Lu is also used as a phosphor in LED components.
